Lamoka Waneta Lakes

Lamoka Lake is a 588 acre lake located in northwestern Schuyler county about two miles west of the town of Tyrone.  The lake has a maximum depth of 40 feet with an average depth of 20 feet.  It has 11.3 miles of shoreline and is 1.6 miles long.  To the north of Lamoka lake is Waneta lake.  The two lakes are connected by a 0.7 mile long canal.  A state boat launch is located on the channel at the north end of Lamoka Lake off of County Route 23, two miles west of Tyrone. Use caution when traveling in the channel to the lake as it can be shallow in some areas, especially during late summer when lake levels may be lower.  Fishing on Lamoka is generally considered good with a variety of species available: Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, black crappie, rock bass, brown bullhead, golden shiner, white sucker, common carp.

Waneta Lake is a 788 acre lake located in northwestern Schuyler county and a small portion of northeast Steuben county.  The maximum depth of Waneta is 29 feet with an average depth of 15 feet.  There are 6.5 miles of shore line and the lake is 3.1 miles long.  Waneta is known to have a good population of musky but other species of fish such as Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, black crappie, rock bass, brown bullhead, golden shiner, white sucker, common carp can be found in the lake.
